Sacheon-si Conducts Survey on COVID-19 Confirmed Patients' Aftereffects... Establishing Aftereffects Management System Plan

Proactive Measures to Support the Recovery of a Healthy Daily Life

Sacheon-si Conducts Survey on COVID-19 Confirmed Patients' Aftereffects... Establishing Aftereffects Management System Plan Sacheon City Hall.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Sacheon City Public Health Center in Gyeongnam is conducting a survey on the actual conditions of aftereffects for citizens who have completed their COVID-19 isolation treatment period in preparation for the Long COVID era.

Long COVID is a term that collectively refers to the aftereffects following infection with the novel coronavirus, meaning that even after being declared fully recovered from COVID-19, physical abnormal symptoms (fatigue, headache, cough, depression, anxiety) persist for a long time.

With the number of confirmed cases rapidly soaring since March this year, it is expected that the number of citizens complaining of aftereffects will increase significantly, making it urgent to prepare countermeasures.

Accordingly, the city health center plans to take proactive measures to help all Sacheon citizens restore their healthy daily lives by establishing an active aftereffects management system based on the results of the COVID-19 aftereffects survey.

The survey sample was randomly extracted according to the proportion of confirmed cases by period, selecting about 400 people, which is 1% of the total confirmed cases. The aftereffects survey will be conducted online (via URL text message) and by phone over three weeks until July 22.

The survey consists of a total of 11 questions across 6 areas: main symptoms at the time of confirmation, aftereffect symptoms and duration, symptom management compliance according to treatment stage, discomfort and difficulties after confirmation, and requests for aftereffects management support projects.

A health center official said, “We must now move in step with citizens’ daily life recovery in the post-COVID, Long COVID era. This survey is a great opportunity to hear citizens’ voices directly after COVID-19, and we will use it as a stepping stone going forward. We ask for the active participation and cooperation of the sampled citizens.”
