Gwangju Buk-gu Council Elects Kim Hyung-su as Chairperson for the 9th Term First Half


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yuk-bong] The Gwangju Buk-gu Council announced that at the first plenary session of the 277th extraordinary meeting held on the 4th, Councilor Kim Hyung-su was elected as the 9th term's first half chairman.


Councilor Kim Hyung-su was entrusted with the important role of chairman of the Buk-gu Council, representing 430,000 residents, through the chairman election among all 20 council members.


In his opening remarks, newly appointed Chairman Kim Hyung-su said, “With the new era of local decentralization brought about by the complete revision of the Local Autonomy Act, I will devote myself with dedication and passion to creating a council that truly represents the residents and works effectively.” He added, “I hope you will continue to watch over the Buk-gu Council with ongoing interest.”


Chairman Kim Hyung-su is a re-elected member of the Democratic Party of Korea, having served as the chairman of the Safety and City Committee in the latter half of the 8th Buk-gu Council and as the special committee chairman for the administrative investigation on the operation of the Duam 2-dong Community Center.


He has proven his capabilities through legislative activities based on deep insight from diverse experiences and policy decisions made through communication with residents.


Also, in the election held that day, Councilor Choi Mu-song, a four-term member of the Democratic Party of Korea, was elected as vice chairman.


Vice Chairman Choi Mu-song expressed his gratitude, saying, “Based on my experience in four terms of legislative activities, I will do my best to establish a council that residents desire.”


Meanwhile, at the second plenary session of the 277th extraordinary meeting scheduled for the 5th, the appointment of standing committee members and the election of committee chairpersons for the 9th term's first half are planned.
