[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] From now on, when searching for directions using trains on the Naver Map application (app), users will be able to book tickets all at once.
Naver announced on the 4th that the integration between the ‘Naver Map’ app and the Korea Railroad Corporation’s ticket reservation system has been completed.
Naver Map began linking train information with KORAIL in February 2021, becoming the first domestic map service to support both place search and train ticket booking. However, until now, users had to check the route and then enter the ‘Train Inquiry & Booking’ tab to check train timetables and make reservations. With this update, users can easily purchase train tickets by pressing the ‘Book’ button available during the route search process.
The trains available for booking are those operated by KORAIL, including ▲KTX ▲Saemaeul ▲Mugunghwa ▲ITX-Cheongchun ▲Tourist Trains.
Naver expects this update to enhance user convenience ahead of the summer vacation season. The monthly number of ‘direction searches’ on Naver Map is on the rise, with total searches last month increasing by 45% compared to February. Notably, users aged from their teens to 30s, who tend to use public transportation more for long-distance travel, account for 55% of Naver Map users, indicating high utilization of the ‘direction search & booking’ feature.
Lee Eun-sil, leader of Naver Map, said, "With the increase in long-distance travel demand during the summer vacation season, collaboration with KORAIL has further enhanced the convenience of Naver Map," adding, "We will do our best to improve user convenience through cooperation with various transportation information providers."
