[Asia Economy Reporters Hyunju Lee, Hyunji Kwon] The People Power Party has requested credit card companies to "consider a flexible adjustment plan for the card fees borne by gas stations."

Cho Su-jin, a senior member of the People Power Party, said at the party's highest council meeting held at the National Assembly on the 4th, "The effect of the fuel tax reduction, which the government has raised to the maximum level, is not being felt by the public."

Senior member Cho stated, "Due to the aftermath of war and supply shortages, the increase in fuel prices caused by rising oil prices is much greater than the tax cuts," adding, "Fuel prices lead the overall inflation, including various raw material costs, living expenses, and wages," urging credit card companies to share their role.

He also emphasized, "This is an emergency situation that requires urgent and extraordinary countermeasures, learning from past experiences such as the oil price refund system."

Senior member Cho requested, "We ask credit card companies themselves to step up in efforts to curb inflation," and added, "Bills to widen the scope of the fuel tax reduction have been submitted to the National Assembly. The Democratic Party of Korea is the ruling party within the National Assembly. Please do not set conditions and promptly reach an agreement on the National Assembly's organizational negotiations."
