Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Direct Launches 'OnOff Mini Driver Insurance'

[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance announced on the 4th that it has launched the 'On-Off Mini Driver Insurance,' which charges premiums based on actual driving distance, through its direct channel.

Driver insurance is a product that covers costs and damages related to car accidents. Upon subscription, it provides coverage for driver fines, traffic accident support funds, attorney fees, and more.

The newly launched Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Direct 'On-Off Mini Driver Insurance' features premiums charged according to actual driving distance. This product automatically measures driving distance by linking with Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Direct's 'Chak'han Drive service.

Customers who wish to use the service can connect their own vehicle via Bluetooth by tapping the blue circle at the bottom of the Direct app. Once connected for the first time, coverage is automatically provided every time the vehicle is driven.

This product is a one-year term product available to private car drivers aged 19 to 70 who own their own vehicle. Customers can choose to subscribe with a coverage driving distance of either 5,000 km or 10,000 km.

If 5,000 km is selected, the annual premium is about 14,000 KRW. Customers who drive less than the initially selected coverage driving distance at cancellation or maturity will receive a refund for the unused coverage driving distance portion of the premium.

Meanwhile, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance introduced the 'Chak'han Life Series, a service for Direct 'Chak' members, last April. By practicing safe driving and walking through the Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Direct app, customers receive benefits in the form of Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance AnyPoint rewards.

'Chak'han Drive is a service that provides points based on the customer's vehicle driving distance and safe driving score. The safe driving score is calculated using an algorithm developed by Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, considering factors such as sudden acceleration and sudden braking. Points are awarded for driving over 1 km, with a maximum of 100 points earned per driving session.

'Chak'han Walk is a service that provides points based on the number of steps taken. Achieving 6,000 steps per day earns 30 points, and an additional 100 points are awarded for every 100,000 steps monthly.

Accumulated points can be used to purchase goods and services at the Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance AnyPoint Mall. Notably, points can be used not only for driver insurance but also for personal automobile insurance, health insurance, travel insurance, and other insurance premium payments, providing a premium-saving effect. One point equals one KRW, and points are valid for three years.

A Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Direct official stated, "This product was planned for customers who hesitate to subscribe to driver insurance due to low mileage." He added, "We will continue to strive to provide products and services suited to the digital environment as a lifestyle-oriented platform."
