[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] With the enforcement of the "Serious Accident Punishment Act," safety and health technologies are gaining social attention, and digital transformation (DX) technologies linked with communication technology are shining.

On the 4th, KT and LG Uplus announced that they will attend the "2022 International Safety and Health Exhibition" held at KINTEX in Ilsan to demonstrate DX-specialized technologies and share best practices.

KT will operate a booth under the theme "Meeting KT Brings Peace of Mind." They will exhibit 10 KT-specialized technology items for safety in workplaces and daily life. These include the "AI Virtual Fence," which automatically stops equipment operation when a person enters a space with dangerous equipment, based on 3D LiDAR and artificial intelligence (AI); the "IoT-based Smart Safety Helmet" utilizing Internet of Things (IoT) technology; and the "Fire Safety DX Service." They will also share best practices in disaster prevention activities. Hong Jin-ki, KT's Executive Director in charge of safety and health, said, "We are striving to create workplaces where workers can work safely and healthily through digital platform capabilities such as AI and big data, and know-how in operating communication networks."

LG Uplus will also introduce smart safety gear, smart radar, and intelligent video security solutions based on IoT and AI technologies. These are joint achievements created together with various companies, including the Korea Industrial Safety Association, a comprehensive safety consulting organization; Senko, a company specializing in electrochemical gas sensor technology; and UNi, a digital twin technology company.

They will also demonstrate the integrated platform for safety and health management in workplaces, the "Safety Management DX Service." The Safety Management DX Service supports over 570 provisions and more than 400 mandatory activities stipulated in the Industrial Safety and Health Act and the Serious Accident Punishment Act. Jeon Seung-hoon, LG Uplus Executive Director in charge of Smart Infrastructure Business, stated, "We will continuously provide the optimal solution that supports workers to work safely and comfortably and helps managers reduce the burden of the Serious Accident Punishment Act while operating their companies."
