[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] LG Electronics' next-generation organic light-emitting diode (OLED) TV, 'LG OLED Evo,' is gaining recognition in Japan for its differentiated viewing experience.
LG Electronics announced on the 4th that Japan's leading audio-visual (AV) magazine HiVi recently selected the LG OLED Evo Gallery Edition (65G2) and LG OLED Evo (55C2) as the best OLED TVs in the display category of the 'Best Buy Award This Summer.' HiVi selects the best products by size for both liquid crystal display (LCD) and OLED, dividing them into categories of 50 inches or less, 51 to 60 inches, and 61 inches or more.
HiVi's judge, Iori Yoshida, highly praised the '5th generation AI α9 processor' for picture and sound quality in the LG OLED Evo, calling it "a great example of how the evolution of the core elevates TV picture quality." The α9 processor is an optimal processor developed based on LG Electronics' accumulated OLED picture and sound quality data. It significantly contributes to delivering differentiated picture quality compared to competitors' OLED TVs using the same panel.
The Evo Gallery Edition also swept the VGP Summer Award Gold Prize (60?70 inches) and the Special Jury Prize in the video category. VGP is Japan's most prestigious award ceremony, often called the Oscars of AV equipment. The awards are given through rigorous evaluation by a panel of professional critics as well as electronic store dealers who closely observe customer reactions.

According to LG Electronics, the average selling price (ASP) of TVs in the Japanese market is the highest in the world. This reflects consumers' sensitivity to picture quality. LG Electronics explains that the fact that LG OLED Evo has consecutively won awards in this market, surpassing well-established local companies, is highly meaningful as it recognizes its unrivaled OLED technology leadership in delivering the best picture quality.
LG Electronics is the only domestic manufacturer targeting the Japanese market, leveraging its world-class OLED TV technology. Recently, it has accelerated technological differentiation by launching the lifestyle OLED TV, LG OLED Objet Collection, in Japan. According to market research firm Omdia, the OLED sales share in the Japanese TV market is expected to exceed 30% for the first time this year.
Son Sungjoo, head of LG Electronics Japan, said, "This award is the result of the differentiated viewing experience provided by the next-generation OLED TV, LG OLED Evo, being recognized in the Japanese market. We will captivate Japanese consumers who are sensitive to picture quality by leveraging our unrivaled OLED technology."
