[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] The People Power Party Innovation Committee officially launched its activities on the 3rd by holding a workshop at the National Assembly.
At the workshop's public opening remarks, Innovation Committee Chairman Choi Jae-hyung said, "Today, we plan to take time to present and organize various innovation proposals submitted by you and the members," adding, "We will broadly gather opinions on what topics need to be discussed and conclude the meeting after discussing how to collect public opinion and proceed with future meetings."
He continued, "Specific innovation tasks will be organized at the next meeting or through a subcommittee if one is formed," and stated, "I believe the party has been collecting candid internal opinions on the direction the party should take to become renewed and how it should change in accordance with what the public desires."
Fifteen innovation committee members, including Vice Chairman Cho Hae-jin, presented innovation agendas privately for about 10 to 15 minutes.
The Innovation Committee is expected to discuss reform tasks such as reforming the nomination system and prohibiting more than three consecutive terms for National Assembly members in the same electoral district, aiming for the 2024 general election.
