Four Years After Release... Likely to Reach 2 Billion Views Within the Year

The music video for "DDU-DU DDU-DU" by the group BLACKPINK has achieved a new record. According to their agency YG Entertainment on the 3rd, the video surpassed 1.9 billion views on YouTube at around 4:02 AM. This is the first time for a K-pop group music video. It has reached this unprecedented milestone in about four years since its release on June 15, 2018.


The "DDU-DU DDU-DU" music video surpassed 1 billion views on YouTube in November 2019. Since then, it has added hundreds of millions of views every 3 to 5 months, aiming to exceed 2 billion views within the year. BLACKPINK already holds 32 videos with over 100 million views each. Their cumulative views total approximately 24.1 billion.


"DDU-DU DDU-DU" is the title track of BLACKPINK's first mini-album "Square Up." It is characterized by its addictive chorus and choreography that mimics shooting guns with both hands. In 2018, it ranked first as the most viewed K-pop music video worldwide. It also reached number 50 on the US Billboard main singles chart, the "Hot 100."
