Busan Mayor Park Hyung-jun Emphasizes Establishing a Solid Cooperative Governance System Based on Practical Communication and Innovation On the 2nd, Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan, and all district and county heads of the 8th local government held their first workshop.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Dong-guk] Busan City held its first workshop between Mayor Park Hyung-jun and the heads of 16 districts and counties at an event held on the 2nd.

The first workshop was attended by Mayor Park, city-affiliated department heads, and all district and county heads of the 8th elected administration, discussing the vision for the 8th administration and the direction of district and county governance.

Additionally, re-elected district heads from Jung-gu, Seo-gu, and Suyeong-gu shared their experiences from the previous 7th administration with attendees, fostering active participation and communication.

At the event, Mayor Park and the district and county heads adopted the "Joint Declaration of Support for the 2030 Busan World Expo Bid," declaring their commitment to cooperate and ensure the successful hosting of the Expo in Busan together with the citizens.

Throughout the workshop, Mayor Park emphasized the need to remove unnecessary and excessive regulations between the city and districts/counties, innovate and improve unreasonable procedures and systems, and enhance the speed of administration in ways that citizens can feel. He proposed that everyone work together to create "a city where every citizen is happy" and "Busan, a city where people want to live again."

The workshop also featured a special lecture by Kwon Young-geol, chairman of the Seoul Design Foundation and a public design expert. Chairman Kwon emphasized the importance of reestablishing awareness of public design, focusing on research of excellent domestic and international cases. After the lecture, attendees shared systematic guidelines for applying urban design suitable for a global city and discussed implementation plans.

In addition, Shim Jae-min, Busan City Planning Officer, directly explained the vision for the 8th administration and the direction of city governance to the district and county heads and senior officials present at the workshop. Jo Yoo-jang, Director of the Tourism MICE Industry Bureau, also explained the progress of the city’s biggest issue, the "2030 Busan World Expo bid," and requested the interest and cooperation of the districts and counties.

Busan Mayor Park Hyung-jun said, “Starting with today’s first workshop held immediately after the inauguration of the 8th administration, we will regularize communication and innovation meetings with districts and counties and do our best to create opportunities for frequent communication and dialogue from a partnership perspective. The city will make every effort to ensure that none of Busan’s core future issues fall off track. We ask for the active support and cooperation of the districts and counties.”
