Card Gorilla Reveals Top 10 Popular Credit Cards for the First Half of 2022
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] In the first half of this year, many credit cards offering discount benefits were selected in the popular credit card list. This comes amid the increasing burden of living expenses due to high oil prices and inflation.
Domestic credit card platform Card Gorilla announced on the 2nd that based on the number of views and application conversions for each credit card product on its website (PC and mobile) from January to the 26th of last month, the top 10 popular cards were selected, with the "Hyundai Card ZERO Edition2 (Discount Type)" taking the top spot for the first half of the year.
The Hyundai Card ZERO Edition2 (Discount Type) maintained its leading position through the first quarter and the first half of the year. It offers a 0.7% discount on all domestic and international merchant transactions without any minimum spending requirement. It also provides specialized discounts for daily life categories such as large discount stores, convenience stores, restaurants, cafes, and transportation, along with 2 to 3 months of interest-free installment benefits.
In second place was the "Shinhan Card Mr.Life." This card is considered ideal for single-person households, offering various essential living discounts including monthly utility bills (electricity, city gas) which are expected to increase soon, as well as discounts at large marts, convenience stores, laundries, and food services. The third place was also taken by a straightforward discount card, "Woori Card DA@Card Uijeongseok." This card provides a 0.8% to 1.3% discount at all domestic merchants and offers free access to domestic airport lounges when a monthly spending of 300,000 KRW is met.
Discount-type cards also showed strong performance in the mid to lower ranks. The "Lotte Card LOCA LIKIT 1.2," which offers a 1.2% discount at all merchants and 1.5% online, ranked 4th. The "NH Nonghyup Allbarun FLEX Card," which provides discounts on transportation, telecommunications, movies, online subscriptions, and delivery apps, ranked 5th.
In 6th place was the "Shinhan Card Deep Dream," which offers 0.7% points accumulation at all merchants and automatically accumulates 5 times points in the most frequently used category. The 7th place went to the "Hana Card Any PLUS," which provides 0.7% domestic, and 1.7% domestic online and overseas discounts. Additionally, the 8th to 10th places were taken by ▲Samsung Card taptap O ▲Hyundai Card Z family ▲KB Kookmin Ttantan Dae-ro All Shopping Titanium Card, respectively.
Go Seung-hoon, CEO of Card Gorilla, said, "Despite various issues in the first half such as high oil prices and the lifting of social distancing, unconditional discount cards firmly held top positions." He added, "With the increase in public transportation income deduction rates and the expected rise in electricity and gas charges, it is necessary to pay attention to cards with utility and telecommunications benefits, as well as overseas benefits and airline mileage cards in the second half of the year."
