Surge in Overseas Travel Demand Due to Lifting of Aviation Restrictions and Quarantine Exemption for Overseas Entrants

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] With the lifting of domestic and international aviation regulations and the exemption of quarantine requirements for overseas arrivals, demand for overseas travel is surging.
According to Norangpungseon on the 1st, an analysis of overseas package tour reservations and airline ticketing data (June 1?30) for departures scheduled throughout July showed that the reservation rate increased by approximately 300% compared to the previous month.
The most popular overseas travel destination during the summer vacation season was Vietnam (Da Nang), with reservations soaring nearly 3000%, showing the highest booking rate. This was followed by Turkey, Western Europe (Spain·Portugal, France·Switzerland·Italy), the Philippines (Cebu), and Thailand (Pattaya).
Norangpungseon attributed the high preference for Vietnam as a summer travel destination to key factors including ▲satisfaction of both relaxation and sightseeing ▲minimization of travel schedule burdens ▲pre-COVID-19 level product prices ▲expanded airline seat supply.
Additionally, with an increase in family travel inquiries and honeymoon package demand, destinations focused on relaxation have attracted attention. During the same period, airline ticketing through Norangpungseon increased by about 100% compared to the previous month.
The region with the highest number of departures in July was Singapore, recording more than triple the sales rate compared to the previous month.
The region with the highest month-over-month growth rate was Manila (800%). Bangkok (150%), Guam (200%), and Frankfurt (300%) also showed significant increases.
A Norangpungseon official stated, "Due to recent easing of entry regulations in the Philippines, visa-free entry for Koreans has become possible, and for those who have completed the third COVID-19 vaccination, one COVID test is exempted, and the submission of a negative test certificate is also waived." He added, "It is expected that family travelers will increase, visiting various resort destinations such as Boracay, Cebu, and Bohol via Manila."
