On the 1st, the Cultural Heritage Administration announced that the Gyeonggi Cultural Heritage Research Institute and the Chungcheongbuk-do Cultural Heritage Research Institute have been pilot-designated as Cultural Heritage Education Support Centers. The Cultural Heritage Education Support Center system designates institutions or organizations recognized as having the purpose or capability to operate cultural heritage education. It aims to revitalize regional cultural heritage education through training and utilization of local cultural heritage education personnel, establishing cooperative networks among regional cultural heritage education institutions and organizations, and providing cultural heritage education for marginalized groups.
The Gyeonggi Cultural Heritage Research Institute and the Chungcheongbuk-do Cultural Heritage Research Institute have all met the legal designation requirements, including offices and lecture rooms for regional cultural heritage education, storage facilities for teaching materials and educational equipment, and full-time professional staff. A Cultural Heritage Administration official stated, "We have prepared the legal basis by revising the Cultural Heritage Protection Act and subordinate laws, and have prepared for operation through research projects and expert advisory meetings," adding, "With the official designation and operation, we will provide high-quality cultural heritage education."
