Repeated Fraudulent Activities on 'Danggeun Market'... Police Arrest Man in His 30s

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] A man in his 30s who carried out fraudulent activities in secondhand transactions for several years in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, has been arrested.

The Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul announced on the 30th that they recently arrested Kang Mo (35), who is suspected of fraud, and are currently investigating.

Kang is accused of posting false listings on the secondhand transaction application 'Danggeun Market' claiming to sell gift certificates or electronic devices, and repeatedly embezzling money deposited by victims.

It is known that Kang used not only his own bank account but also his mother's account in the crimes.

Furthermore, Kang was sentenced to prison for fraudulent activities involving false listings on platforms such as Junggonara in his 20s and was released in February of this year.

Victims filed a complaint against Kang with the police in March, and the Yeongdeungpo Police, conducting the investigation, applied for a pre-arrest warrant at the end of this month, which the court accepted.

A police official stated, "The suspect has been arrested on charges of fraud and is under investigation," adding, "We cannot disclose the exact number of victims or the scale of the damage as the investigation is ongoing."
