Promoting Gwangyang Bay Area as the Optimal Export Hub for Domestic and International ESS Companies
Active Promotion of Se-pung Industrial Complex as a Forward Base for Secondary Battery New Industry Development Plans
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] The Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority (Commissioner Song Sang-rak, hereinafter Gwangyang Economic Authority) announced that it participated in the '2022 World Energy Storage System Expo' held at KINTEX in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do from June 29 to July 1, conducting investment attraction activities targeting domestic and international ESS (Energy Storage System) related companies.
The World Energy Storage System Expo serves as a networking platform to share the latest issues and technological trends in the ESS industry. Celebrating its 14th edition this year, the expo featured participation from over 200 companies and institutions from 15 countries worldwide in fields such as ESS, ESS-related technologies, ESS components and equipment, and energy optimal consumption control engineering.
The Gwangyang Economic Authority jointly set up and operated a promotional booth with Jeollanam-do at this exhibition, actively promoting the strengths of the ESS export manufacturing base within the Gwangyang Bay Area, the signing of business agreements with the China Battery Association and the Korea ESS Industry Promotion Association, and plans to establish a new industry forward base for secondary batteries in the Sepung Industrial Complex.
During the exhibition, on June 30, an invited meeting was held for executives and member companies of the Korea ESS Industry Promotion Association.
At the meeting, Commissioner Song Sang-rak of the Gwangyang Economic Authority stated, "The Gwangyang Bay Area is equipped with a secondary battery manufacturing base including POSCO steelworks, Yeosu chemical complex, and battery materials, making it an optimal business location to manufacture lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, install Korea’s BMS, PCS, and EMS, and export to overseas markets through Gwangyang Port," requesting consideration for investment.
