[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwi-yeol] The Gyeongbuk Office of Education is actively preparing for the transition to the Gyeongbuk future education system by promoting a project to provide smart devices to students at all school levels, aiming for one smart device per student.
The student smart device distribution project aims to create a converged education environment where students and teachers can freely communicate and participate online and offline anytime and anywhere in response to the rapidly changing digital environment. It targets students from 3rd grade in elementary school to 3rd grade in high school in the province, with the goal of providing one smart device per student.
Since preparing for distribution in the second half of last year, 45,059 student smart devices were installed by June this year, achieving a distribution rate of 53% compared to the total target students.
In particular, the smart devices distributed this time are supported so that students can use them without worrying about inconvenience caused by device malfunctions through ▲ maintenance and management for a service life of 5 years ▲ operation of a dedicated call center ▲ designation of AS centers in city and county areas.
Additionally, to help teachers flexibly respond to digital changes, online and offline training on device usage and class application methods is being conducted, and regular patrol inspections are planned to reduce the increased burden of managing information devices and allow teachers to focus on education.
The Office of Education has been gradually expanding the distribution of smart devices by grade level in schools since 2021, and is accelerating the project to complete the one student one device distribution for 3rd to 6th grade elementary school students by December this year.
Lim Jong-sik, Superintendent of Gyeongbuk Education, said, “We are now experiencing a digital world where knowledge and information are shared through various media and abundant resources,” and added, “I hope our students, who will be at the center of future education, enhance their capabilities and accumulate experiences to adapt well to the digital world and become creative future growth engines.”
