[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Chun-hee] Drug Delivery System (DDS) platform biotech company Inventage Lab announced on the 30th that it received approval for the clinical trial plan (IND) for the dementia treatment drug 'IVL3003' from the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) on the 27th.
Following the success of the Phase 1 and 2 clinical trials of a long-acting hair loss treatment jointly conducted last year with Daewoong Pharmaceutical and Withus Pharmaceutical, Inventage Lab plans to accumulate practical cases of securing in-house mass production and pharmaceutical product commercialization through its platform technology.
IVL3003 is an innovative product applying 'IVL-Drug Fluidic' technology that controls the initial release of the dementia treatment drug 'Donepezil' while maintaining a stable blood drug concentration over the target period. It is expected to improve patient and medical staff satisfaction by addressing issues commonly associated with existing dementia treatments, such as low medication adherence, potential gastrointestinal side effects, and dysphagia (difficulty swallowing food).
In particular, since stable blood drug concentrations were confirmed in multiple animal tests including primates compared to oral formulations, this clinical trial is expected to demonstrate the potential of IVL3003 as a 'Best-in-Class' dementia treatment by exploring safety and efficacy based on the superior pharmacokinetics of the extended-release formulation.
Kim Joo-hee, CEO of Inventage Lab, said, “We are pleased to have achieved the planned results that demonstrate the scalability and potential of microfluidics-based technology. We will faithfully carry out the remaining development stages to provide the best treatment options for patients and medical professionals.”
