"Politics that sacrifice people's livelihood for factional strife will never be tolerated"
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Lee Jae-myung, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the 30th, "There is nothing more upsetting to the people than politics obsessed with partisan strife in the face of painful livelihood realities," and requested, "I ask the government and ruling party to focus on livelihoods, not partisan strife."
Lee made this statement while referring to an article on social media (SNS) mentioning that consumer prices are at their highest level in 10 years.
He pointed out, "While the people are struggling day by day due to job shortages, high prices, high interest rates, and declines in stock and virtual assets, it is truly pitiful and embarrassing to see the ruling party responsible for state affairs provoking and immersing itself in partisan strife with outdated color politics or lies."
Lee said, "While it is important to investigate the truth behind the West Sea public official killings, this issue should not be turned into a subject of partisan strife in the face of the livelihood crisis," and criticized, "Should we repeat the previous conservative government’s attempt to seek a turnaround with color politics every time approval ratings fell?"
He mentioned, "Let us turn our eyes to the worst levels of household debt and high interest rates," adding, "Due to interest rate hikes, commercial buildings and small-scale land plots are expected to be directly hit, and the real estate decline crisis is expected to begin from the provinces." He continued, "Young people who bought houses with all their savings and maintained their livelihoods through borrowing should not be driven to extreme situations because of high interest rates," and said, "Elderly people should not be left to endure alone the fear of skyrocketing interest on livelihood-related debts."
Lee emphasized, "I will never forgive politics that sacrifices livelihoods for partisan strife aimed at political gain."
