[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The mayor's official residence, which had been used as the 'Gonggwan Daycare Center' in Ulsan City for 24 years, has been transformed into the 'Ulsan Sinjeong Happy Housing' and will begin move-in starting from the 30th.
Ulsan Sinjeong Happy Housing is a project promoted by Ulsan City and the Korea Land and Housing Corporation after being selected in 2017 for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's aged public office complex development project.
The project mainly involves converting the old public daycare center into 100 units of Happy Housing, a public daycare center, a small library, and other essential social overhead capital (SOC) facilities for citizens.
The city invested a total of 17.9 billion KRW in the project, constructing Happy Housing on a site of 1,696㎡ with a total floor area of 11,550㎡ and a 15-story building above ground.
The main facilities include a national and public daycare center and a small library on the first floor, a public parking lot on the 2nd and 3rd floors, and Happy Housing units from the 4th to the 15th floors.
As a result of the tenant recruitment, it recorded the highest public housing subscription rate in Ulsan City's history at 13.7:1, proving the viability of the SOC complex development project. It was also reported by numerous media outlets as a model policy for utilizing official residences by local governments.
In response to this positive reception, Ulsan City plans to expand the supply of Happy Housing for youth and newlyweds through projects such as the old Ulju County Office complex development, youth share house construction, and Ulsan Innovation Newlywed Hope Town construction.
For youth and newlywed couples moving into Ulsan Sinjeong Happy Housing, the Ulsan Newlywed Housing Support Project will also be linked to increase the marriage and birth rates within the region.
Move-in applications for Ulsan Sinjeong Happy Housing can be made by accessing the Korea Land and Housing Corporation My Home website to apply for remaining units. The Ulsan Newlywed Housing Support Project can be applied for through the housing support project website.
