KT&G Announces Open Call for Musicians in 'Sangsangmadang Hongdae Music Support Project'

Recruitment for Two Categories: 'Band Discovery' and 'My First Concert'... Support Including Solo Concerts

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] KT&G announced on the 30th that it will open applications for participants in the ‘2022 KT&G Sangsangmadang Hongdae Music Support Project,’ which actively supports discovering and promoting new musicians, from the 1st to the 29th of next month.

This contest consists of two categories: ‘Band Discovery’ and ‘My First Concert.’ Band Discovery targets amateur musicians who have at least three original songs searchable online. After document screening and an online competition, two final teams will be selected to receive benefits worth approximately 5 million KRW each, including prize money and single album production costs, as well as opportunities to perform on weekends at Sangsangmadang Hongdae. Now in its 10th year, Band Discovery has produced many talented musicians such as Thornapple, The Vane, and Macguffin.

The My First Concert category supports four teams of musicians who wish to hold their first solo concert with a capacity of over 100 seats after forming their team, and whose live performance skills and genre diversity have been verified. These teams will receive rental fees for the KT&G Sangsangmadang Hongdae Live Hall and special benefits for concert promotion and marketing.
