[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Seven Eleven announced on the 30th that it will launch an ultra-low-price product brand called ‘Goodmin’ and sell five products: safe eggs, bite-sized samgyeopsal, thinly sliced samgyeopsal, one-meal tofu, and safe bean sprouts.
Goodmin is a compound word combining ‘Good,’ meaning good, and ‘Min (民),’ meaning people, signifying the intention to provide consumers with beneficial, high-quality products at ultra-low prices. The five Goodmin products are special-priced items at large mart price levels. Seven Eleven has established a system to stably supply high-quality products at low prices through prior contracts on raw materials and production with competitive partners.
The two types of Goodmin samgyeopsal 500g have the advantage of being priced under 10,000 won. The safe eggs 10-pack are domestically produced large eggs that have been thoroughly washed and sterilized, certified under the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) safety management standards. The safe bean sprouts 300g are certified under Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and grown without using growth promoters. The one-meal tofu 300g is divided into two 150g portions suitable for stews and pan-frying, separately packaged to be used up in one meal without leftovers.
To commemorate the product launch, a half-price discount event will be held in addition to the ultra-low prices next month. When purchasing 5,000 won or more of the five Goodmin products with the event card, customers will receive a 50% discount. On the 11th of next month, a special live broadcast titled ‘Goodmin Everyone Half-Price Day’ will be held through Lotte On’s ‘On Live.’
A Seven Eleven official said, “We expect a significant impact on alleviating the burden of living expenses by organizing the Goodmin lineup mainly with daily necessities frequently used at home,” adding, “We will continue to expand the Goodmin brand, which offers high quality at low prices, and fulfill our role as a daily consumption channel.”
