[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Regarding the Central Election Commission's request for an investigation of Health and Welfare Minister nominee Kim Seung-hee to the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, the People Power Party stated, "We hope for an investigation that follows the law and principles."

On the 29th, People Power Party floor spokesperson Yang Geum-hee said in a commentary, "An unfortunate situation has occurred with the Election Commission's request for an investigation of nominee Kim to the Supreme Prosecutors' Office."

Spokesperson Yang added, "Since the Election Commission has taken the step to request an investigation, we hope that the Supreme Prosecutors' Office will take measures based on a thorough verification of the facts regarding the specific matters, in accordance with the law and principles."

Nominee Kim has been suspected of misusing political funds for the acquisition of a work rental car, vehicle painting, and payment of insurance premiums for her husband's vehicle.

Meanwhile, although nominee Kim stated that it was not intentional, she acknowledged that she ultimately violated the Political Funds Act and returned about 18 million won to the Election Commission. Accordingly, the Election Commission officially launched an investigation on the 24th.
