Jinju City Holds 2nd Working Meeting for 'UAM Jinju' UAM Jinju 2nd Working Meeting.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] On the 28th at 3 p.m., Jinju City in Gyeongnam held the 2nd working-level meeting for urban air mobility ‘UAM Jinju’ at the cultural lecture room on the 3rd floor of the city hall.

At the meeting, working-level officials from 16 organizations of the ‘UAM Jinju’ council, including Jinju City, attended and exchanged various opinions on execution plans for industrial development in Jinju and the task details of the ‘Strategy Establishment Service for UAM Industry Promotion.’

The various opinions presented at the meeting will be utilized in promoting future UAM-related projects. Based on the contents of this meeting, quarterly working-level meetings will be held to conduct in-depth discussions on the domestic and international UAM industry.

Shin Jong-woo, the deputy mayor who attended the meeting, said, “Jinju City has many advantages for the development of the UAM industry as it possesses excellent personnel, public institutions, and industrial infrastructure in the aerospace field,” and added, “We will continue to strive to foster the UAM industry in Jinju through various policies and projects.”

UAM is a future growth industry estimated to reach a global market size of $1.5 trillion by 2040. Jinju City has been hosting international conferences related to PAV (Personal Air Vehicle) and UAM annually since 2016 to foster the UAM industry.

In November last year, the ‘UAM Jinju’ council, encompassing institutions, universities, companies, and the military, was formed, and the first working-level meeting was held in January this year to gather diverse opinions.

In the first half of last year, Jinju was selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s drone demonstration city project and successfully carried out projects such as pioneering UAM routes over the past six months. The KAI (Korea Aerospace Industries) rotary-wing flight center was attracted to the Gasan general industrial complex, aiming to cluster the UAM industry in the future.
