[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Haeundae-gu Child Meal Management Support Center, operated by Dongseo University, was selected as a meritorious center at the '2022 Child Meal Management Support Center Performance Report Meeting' and received a commendation from the Minister of Food and Drug Safety.
The center commendation is the result of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety selecting 10 meritorious centers out of 243 centers nationwide for their significant contributions to improving the child meal environment.
The Haeundae-gu Child Meal Management Support Center has been providing on-site customized support services such as hygiene and nutrition management, meal plans and recipe provision, consulting, and dietary education tailored to each target group for child meal facilities with fewer than 100 children without nutritionists since 2013.
In 2021, the center developed immersive educational materials (VR) and distributed them to the local community and regional centers, striving to improve the meal environment of child meal facilities in Busan.
Starting from July, the center will be entrusted with the Busan Social Welfare Meal Management Support Center project and will establish a social welfare meal team.
The meal team plans to support hygiene and nutrition management to ensure safe and healthy meals at elderly nursing facilities, care facilities, and welfare facilities for the disabled.
Center Director Lee Hyun-sook said, “Based on the know-how of operating the Child Meal Management Support Center, we will do our best to support meal services and improve nutrition levels for vulnerable groups in the community, including not only children but also the elderly and disabled.”
