[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] The Jungbu Police Station in Seoul has signed a 'SAFE Poly Hotel' business agreement with 10 hotels in its jurisdiction.

On the 29th, the Jungbu Police Station announced that on the previous day, Jungbu Police Chief Kang Soon-bo and 25 attendees including CEOs and general managers of local hotels held the SAFE Poly Hotel business agreement ceremony.

This policy, which will be implemented starting July 1, was created to actively respond to incidents targeting socially vulnerable groups occurring in lodging establishments. There are a total of 183 lodging establishments within the jurisdiction of the Jungbu Police Station, located in commercial areas and transportation hubs with high foot traffic. At the same time, relational crimes targeting women such as lovers, family members, and friends within lodging establishments are also on the rise compared to the previous year.

The Jungbu Police Station plans to visit hotels in the future to provide crime prevention education on sexual violence, stalking, and other crimes to hotel employees and related workers, as well as training on how to respond in case of crime occurrence. Additionally, they will inspect for illegal camera installations within hotels and educate hotel staff on how to rent and use detection equipment so they can conduct regular inspections.

Starting July 7, the Jungbu Police Station will begin crime prevention education for employees of the Nine Tree Premier Hotel and will sequentially visit each hotel. The hotels participating in this business agreement include Nine Tree Premier Myeongdong 11, Nine Tree Hotel Dongdaemun, Novotel Ambassador Seoul Dongdaemun, Ramada by Wyndham Seoul Dongdaemun, Lotte Hotel City Myeongdong, Banyan Tree Club & Spa Seoul, Summit Hotel Seoul, Travelodge Dongdaemun, Travelodge Myeongdong Euljiro, and Hotel PJ.

Chief Kang stated, "This should not be limited to a formal business agreement ceremony but should lead to continuous communication and practical activities between the police and hotels for crime prevention and arrest," adding, "We will gradually expand the implementation."
