The Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Gyeongnam held a meeting inviting Hong Nam-pyo, the mayor-elect of Changwon.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Gyeongnam held a meeting on the 28th, inviting Hong Nampyo, the elected mayor of Changwon.
The meeting held at the Changwon Rivera Convention was organized to share the direction of the city’s industrial policy and corporate support policy ahead of the launch of the 8th civil administration.
On that day, Mayor-elect Hong gave a special lecture on the direction of Changwon city’s economic policy for the 8th civil administration, and about 60 members of the Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, including Chairman Gu Jacheon, attended the meeting.
In his special lecture, Mayor-elect Hong emphasized, “The most important thing in managing not only private companies but also public enterprises and local governments is to diagnose the environment in which one is situated,” adding, “A clear diagnosis must be made to establish a strategy.”
He also pledged, “I will prepare ways for Changwon to maintain strong competitiveness amid the waves of change occurring in the 4th Industrial Revolution and the US-China technological hegemony war.”
He conveyed his intention to establish all projects and implement industrial policies from the perspective of demanders, promising to prepare support measures to maintain nuclear power companies, strengthen the defense industry cluster, promote industrial smartization, and foster the medical and bio device industry as part of building a foundation for innovative growth.
Chairman Gu Jacheon proposed the formation of a Changwon Economic Council that can regularly share economic issues with Changwon city during the subsequent meeting.
The members of the Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry who attended suggested introducing the Gyeongjeon Line SRT, establishing a medical school, devising ways to maximize the added value of the port industry within the region, preparing measures to foster venture companies, changing the use of the Jinhae Macheon Casting Complex, preparing preferential policies for skilled workers and field workers, and installing a U-turn company complex.
Mayor-elect Hong said, “I will sincerely consider the diverse opinions of businesspeople as a reference for preparing city administration,” adding, “I think all individual matters are important, but first, I want to take care of establishing a system that connects the entire city’s capabilities so that Changwon can achieve sustainable growth.”
Chairman Gu responded, “Currently, Changwon’s industry is attempting a leap forward through the advancement of an industrial structure that maximizes added value in addition to existing productivity,” adding, “We have high expectations for the city administration that Mayor-elect Hong, who has played a significant role in the field of science and technology at the central government level, will carry out during this critical time.”
He added, “In the process of leading Changwon to become a city favorable for businesses and with a more promising future, we will create many opportunities like today’s meeting so that the voices from the business field can be reflected.”
