Imsil-gun Receives Positive Response to Agricultural Policy Including Operation of Farm Work Agency Team

[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, is receiving great response as it actively implements agricultural policies to support farms struggling with rural aging and labor shortages.

The county announced on the 28th that it operated an agricultural work delegation team for 8 farms covering 7.2 hectares to alleviate the burden of barley harvesting work.

Now in its seventh year, the agricultural work delegation has contributed to establishing a stable production base for barley and solving the biggest obstacle in barley farming, the harvesting issue.

In particular, to compensate for the fact that grain loss rates exceeded 30% during general combine harvesting, the introduction of a combine dedicated to barley harvesting has had a significant effect on expanding and revitalizing barley cultivation.

The agricultural work delegation fee was set at 40 won per square meter, the same price as last year, which is cheaper than the general market price, reducing the management costs for farms.

Before the barley harvesting work, the agricultural work delegation team conducted agricultural machinery safety education, and required wearing safety helmets and safety shoes to ensure safe agricultural work delegation.

The county will extend the "50% discount on agricultural machinery rental fees," which was scheduled to end at the end of this month, until the end of this year.

To reduce the farming burden on farmers caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and rising prices, the 50% discount on rental fees for 832 agricultural machines of 22 types rented from 4 business offices will be extended until the end of this year.

Farmers wishing to use agricultural machinery can conveniently rent machinery by making a reservation three days in advance and coordinating the desired machinery and work schedule.

Starting this year, foreign seasonal workers have been introduced and are being operated.

A total of 30 Vietnamese foreign seasonal workers arrived in the first half of this year, and they are expected to greatly contribute to alleviating labor shortages in farms lacking manpower.

In the second half of the year, an additional 40 or so Vietnamese foreign seasonal workers are planned to be introduced.

A county official said, "We will strive to reduce production costs for barley farms and improve farm income through the operation of summer forage and agricultural work delegation teams for elderly small-scale farmers. We will do our best in agricultural policies that prioritize public sentiment, along with labor support such as expanding the introduction of foreign seasonal workers."
