[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Hanwha Hotels & Resorts will launch the lifestyle brand Mattier Osiria, which fully embodies the local characteristics, at the Osiria complex in Gijang-gun, Busan, on the 1st of next month.
According to Hanwha Hotels & Resorts on the 28th, Mattier Osiria occupies about 28,790.75㎡ (approximately 8,709 pyeong) out of a total floor area of 127,373.43㎡ (about 38,530 pyeong). The building has 26 floors above ground and 1 basement floor, operating a total of 200 rooms.
Mattier is an abbreviation of the French word mati?re, meaning material or texture, symbolizing a resting place where lives with different textures coexist. As the brand name suggests, Mattier Osiria incorporates local characteristics throughout the space through collaboration with Busan brands so that guests can experience not only their own life but also the life of the travel destination.
Notably, a bookstore was created in the unused space under the escalator on the GF floor, featuring books selected by Busan independent bookstore ‘Juchek Gongsa’. Books by Busan-born authors are categorized by genre, and there are plans to hold book talk events with invited authors for guests in the future. ‘Cinepin House,’ the official goods manufacturer of the Busan International Film Festival, is producing Mattier Osiria signature goods. The rooms are also filled with elements that let guests feel Busan, including ‘Galmegi Brewing’ beer, famous in Gwangalli, and products from well-known Busan brands such as ‘Red Potty’ and ‘Momos Coffee’.
The rooms are composed of three types to suit the number of guests and purpose: studio type (Comfort Superior, Comfort Deluxe), suite type (Mattier Suite, Suite Ocean), and royal type (Mattier Prestige). Notably, about 80% of the rooms are suites and royal types larger than 18 pyeong, providing a spacious and comfortable environment.
For guest convenience, digital solutions have also been applied. With the Mattier application (app), everything from reservation to check-in, room item requests, and check-out can be handled. Each room is equipped with a tablet PC. When guests request contactless concierge service and F&B room service, LG Electronics’ delivery robots bring the items directly.
In line with Mattier Osiria’s philosophy of environmental consideration, the hotel industry’s first use of ‘Aromatica’ products as amenities has been adopted. In the future, Mattier Osiria plans to carry out a project to produce label-free water bottles provided in rooms as Aromatica amenity refill bottles.
They have also partnered with ScentOn, a fragrance specialist company that created premium scents for domestic 5-star hotels. The ‘Mattier Blue’ scent was created to express the Busan seaside as it is.
A Hanwha Hotels & Resorts PR representative said, “Mattier Osiria is a space filled with the touch of local brands to the extent that it can be called Busan itself,” and added, “We plan to expand the Mattier brand, which embodies regional characteristics, to more than 10 locations by 2030.”
