On the 28th, the 'Barugesalgi Movement Gyeongbuk Women's Conference' to be Held This Year
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gui-yeol] Gyeongbuk Province and the Barun Living Movement Gyeongbuk Council held the ‘2022 Barun Living Movement Gyeongbuk Women’s Conference’ on the afternoon of the 28th at Dongnak Hall of the provincial government office.
The event was attended by Governor Lee Cheol-woo, Gyeongbuk Provincial Council Chairman Go Woo-hyun, Council Chairman Kim Jae-won, Women’s Association President Kim Young-sook, city and county women’s association presidents, and about 800 members.
The Gyeongbuk Women’s Conference has been held annually since 2010 to take the lead in creating honest individuals, a society of coexistence, and a healthy nation based on the three core ideals of truth, order, and harmony in the Barun Living Movement, and to expand women’s social participation.
This year, Governor’s commendations were awarded to 10 people, including Vice Chairwoman An Wi-ja of the Yecheon Gamcheon-myeon Committee, who have devoted themselves to volunteer service in the local community.
Additionally, two recipients received the Gold Medal from the Central Council of the Barun Living Movement, four received the Central Council Chairman’s Commendation, two received the Gyeongbuk Council Chairman’s Commendation, and twelve received the Gyeongbuk Women’s Association President’s Commendation.
Women’s Association President Lee Ok-hwa of the Yeongyang County Council and Women’s Association President Yoon Jeong-ja of the Pohang City Council were awarded the highest honor, the Gold Medal, for practicing neighborly love through volunteer activities such as preparing side dishes for low-income disabled families and setting up birthday tables for elderly people living alone with warm, family-like hearts.
Kim Jae-won, Chairman of the Gyeongbuk Council, encouraged, “Let us commend the efforts of female members who have carried out various volunteer activities to overcome COVID-19, and continue to make Gyeongbuk a hopeful place with the strength of our Barun women members.”
Governor Lee Cheol-woo said, “There was no disaster site, such as the recent wildfire, where the hands of our female members did not reach. I thank all the members who always take the lead without hesitation even in difficult tasks,” and added, “I hope you always take pride and become a reliable pillar of the local community.”
The Barun Living Movement Gyeongbuk Council is a national movement organization that takes the lead in establishing basic social order, such as observing fundamental laws, saving energy, and practicing green living.
They carry out various volunteer activities such as bathing services for the elderly and free meals for the needy in the community, and especially this year, they actively participated in volunteer work and fundraising to overcome the damage caused by the Uljin wildfire.
