[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] GS25 announced on the 28th that two types of cup noodles, Mushroom Soup Ramen and Corn Soup Ramen, released in collaboration with Ottogi, are gaining great popularity among consumers.
According to GS25, an analysis of sales of over 100 types of cup noodle products from the 1st to the 26th of this month showed that Mushroom Soup Ramen ranked 5th and Corn Soup Ramen ranked 17th. During the same period, considering only the sales of about 20 differentiated cup noodle products, Mushroom Soup Ramen ranked 2nd after Omori Kimchi Stew Ramen, and Corn Soup Ramen ranked 5th.
Mushroom Soup Ramen and Corn Soup Ramen were commercialized based on a proposal from GS25’s cup noodle product planner (MD) to make Ottogi’s representative product, Korea’s first soup product, into a cup noodle. They included different powdered soups, Ottogi pepper, and additional soup packets to preserve the unique taste of Ottogi soup and even capture the feel of cream pasta.
A GS25 official said, “The two Ottogi Soup Ramen products are reinterpretations of products regarded as legends in the Korean food industry, developed after months of repeated prototype modifications. We plan to continue designing various collaborative products with our partners to offer GS25 customers new consumption experiences.”
