[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The National Library of Korea and the Yeongin Literature Museum are joining forces to digitize and provide services for the 'Materials related to the late Minister of Culture, Lee O-ryeong.' A business agreement for this was signed on the 27th at the National Library of Korea.
The main contents include ▲ digitization, preservation, and joint utilization of materials related to the late Minister Lee O-ryeong ▲ digitization, preservation, and joint utilization of materials held by the Yeongin Literature Museum ▲ and the joint hosting of exhibitions, oral recordings, workshops, and seminars to smoothly achieve the project's goals.
The National Library of Korea will investigate the lists of books, lecture materials, broadcasts, videos, and photographs of the late Minister Lee O-ryeong, and will build thematic collections to provide services on its website starting in December. Additionally, to inherit and develop the life and spirit of the late minister, which aligns with current keywords in our lives such as culture, creation, life, and digilog, it plans to hold 'Lee O-ryeong through Data: Exhibition, Oral Recording, and Seminar.'
Seo Hyeran, Director of the National Library of Korea, said, “I feel joy and pride in establishing a foundation to digitize, preserve, and provide services for the materials of the great elder of the cultural world and icon of creation, the late Minister Lee O-ryeong, as well as materials of modern Korean writers held by the Yeongin Literature Museum.” She added, “Since 2018, the National Library of Korea has been carrying out the National Knowledge Cultural Heritage Digital Archive (Korean Memory) project. As a national representative library, we are digitizing collections (books, catalogs, videos, photos, etc.) in collaboration with cultural and artistic institutions (libraries, museums, art galleries, etc.), and we hope for active interest and participation from cultural and artistic institutions.”
