[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] Taeyoung Construction announced on the 27th that 'Gwangmyeong Roof Gallery' won the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award at the '12th Korea Landscape Awards' competition. With this, Taeyoung Construction has won the award for two consecutive years, following last year's Presidential Award.
Taeyoung Construction previously won the highest award, the Presidential Award, at the '11th Korea Landscape Awards 2021' through Changwon Jungdong Unicity last year, and in March this year, received the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award and the Proud Landscape Architect Award at the '19th Landscape Day' ceremony.
Co-hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korean Society of Landscape Architecture, the 'Korea Landscape Awards' is an award system designed to discover landscape projects that contribute to creating a pleasant national environment and national development, and to expand the scope of landscape architecture. It was introduced in 2001 and selects winners through a comprehensive evaluation of landscape policies and practical cases.
The 'Gwangmyeong Roof Gallery,' which won the Landscape Award this year, is a landscaped space located on the ground floor and rooftop within a complex developed by Taeyoung Construction as part of the Gwangmyeong Station area land development project PF, which began in 2006 and was completed in 2021. It is directly connected to the nearby Desiang Apartments.
While landscaped spaces have so far been perceived as green areas solely for rest within complexes, the landscaped space of Gwangmyeong U-Planet was created as a space integrated with culture and arts. From the early stages of the project, over five years, it was completed under the theme of a public art project called 'Today's Weather' in collaboration with architects, landscape architects, and artists.
