Creating New Innovation Growth Engines through Discovering and Attracting Venture Companies
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] On the 27th, Pohang City in Gyeongbuk held the final report meeting for the "Basic Plan Establishment Research Service for the Creation of Green Bio Convergence-type Enterprise Support Facilities" in the city hall's medium conference room.
At the report meeting, about 10 people including university, research institute, and related organization officials attended, where the service performing organization presented the results of the task and the future direction for promoting the creation of enterprise support facilities. It was a time to actively collect various opinions and suggestions from the attendees.
Green bio industries have recently grown rapidly based on the development of IT and BT technologies, including microbiomes, veterinary pharmaceuticals, and alternative foods. Due to this high growth potential, startups have increased significantly, making comprehensive support such as venture startups for industrial development, introduction of high-performance equipment, and talent cultivation urgently needed.
As the green bio industry emerges as the next-generation new growth industry, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs promoted the "Green Bio Venture Campus" contest in February this year to foster and develop it. In response, Pohang City has been promoting the "Basic Plan Establishment Research Service for the Creation of Green Bio Convergence-type Enterprise Support Facilities" since March and achieved the great success of being selected for the contest project together with Pyeongchang County in May.
The "Basic Plan Establishment Research Service for the Creation of Green Bio Convergence-type Enterprise Support Facilities" was implemented over four months from March this year. The main contents include ▲ trends and development potential of the green bio industry ▲ necessity of green bio convergence-type enterprise support facilities ▲ promotion system and operation plans.
Son Jeong-ho, Director of the Job and Economy Bureau, said, "Pohang has the optimal environment for green bio venture companies to grow," adding, "It is highly expected that the creation of the 'Green Bio Venture Campus' utilizing these regional strengths will create new innovative growth engines through the discovery and attraction of green bio ventures."
