[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Kim Byeong-nae, Mayor of Nam-gu, Gwangju, will begin his second term with a modest inauguration ceremony on the 1st of next month, reflecting a humble approach to the 8th local government term.
He plans to eliminate unnecessary events such as inviting external guests and celebratory performances, and instead secure momentum for the 8th term’s district administration by engaging in sincere conversations with staff for the development of the local community and the happiness of residents.
According to Nam-gu on the 27th, Mayor Kim Byeong-nae will attend the ‘Small Inauguration Ceremony for the 8th Local Government Term’ held at 2 p.m. on the 1st of next month in the large conference room on the 8th floor of the district office.
The inauguration ceremony will be conducted modestly with about an hour of table meetings with staff.
The public officials participating in the table meeting include representatives from the MZ generation, married public officials, and male and female representatives, and the number of officials attending the inauguration was minimized at Mayor Kim’s request.
This is because, as a re-elected head of the local government and with continuity between the 7th and 8th terms, it was judged important to focus on current issues and policy projects.
It also reflects the mayor’s determination to concentrate on emergency tasks during the peak season.
After listening to the outline of the core projects for the 8th term, attendees will share a time to empathize with the necessity of successfully completing the direction and major projects of the business over the next four years.
Regarding the background of sharing the outline for the 8th term, Mayor Kim explained, “If we move forward with united strength toward the goal, we can achieve greater results. The competitiveness of local governments stems from the capabilities of public officials, so forming a consensus on the vision is the starting point for securing momentum in district administration.”
Mayor Kim plans to continue his non-authoritarian approach actively after the inauguration.
In particular, to lower the threshold for resident administration and get closer to residents, he will move the mayor’s office from the 7th floor to the 1st floor, and plans to commute to the 17 administrative welfare centers in the district at least once a month to communicate on-site with neighborhood residents before leaving work.
Meanwhile, on the first day of the 8th term inauguration, Mayor Kim plans to spend the day calmly by participating in lunch distribution activities at the district office’s underground staff cafeteria to share an uninterrupted development and dynamic start of Nam-gu with the staff.
