‘Busan Community Kitchen’ Expands Nationwide... Dong-Eui Institute of Technology Onmaeul Sarangchae, ‘Resident Life Innovation Case Expansion Support Project’ The 'Onmaeul Sarangchae' operated by the Community Integrated Care Meal Service Support Center, a school enterprise of Dong-Eui Science University.


[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] ‘Onmaeul Sarangchae,’ operated by the Meal Service Support Center for Integrated Community Care under the school enterprise of Dong-Eui Institute of Technology, was recently selected as an excellent case in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s ‘2022 Resident Life Innovation Case Expansion Support Project.’


The project selects outstanding innovation cases from local governments that contribute to improving residents’ convenience through various evaluations and excellent case competitions, and supports their introduction to other local governments.


The Ministry of the Interior and Safety analyzed 510 excellent local innovation cases and, through preference surveys and on-site verification by private experts, finally selected Onmaeul Sarangchae among 34 excellent cases.


Onmaeul Sarangchae, which was selected, is a meal facility that provides customized meals and nutrition management services to integrated care recipients such as the elderly.


The project has been operated to improve the malnutrition status of the elderly and support healthy independent living in old age.


The facility has been operated since 2020 through cooperation among the Dong-Eui Institute of Technology Integrated Care Center, Foodmers, Busanjin-gu, and other public and private academic sectors.


Onmaeul Sarangchae has two locations, Beomjeon Branch and Choeup Branch, supporting about 180 integrated care recipients such as the elderly with 24 meals per month and nutrition management once a month.


Following the project selection, three local governments?Yuseong-gu in Daejeon Metropolitan City, Yangpyeong-gun in Gyeonggi Province, and Yeonggwang-gun in Jeollanam-do?intend to benchmark Onmaeul Sarangchae, and additional applications from local governments will be accepted until the end of June.


Center Director Lee Sang-ju said, “We will actively share our project know-how with local governments wishing to introduce the program so that local seniors can receive balanced meals, improve their dietary habits, and ensure a healthy old age.”
