[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] A student at a prestigious medical school in Korea is under police investigation for sexually harassing and illegally filming a fellow club member.

On the 26th, the Jungnang Police Station in Seoul booked A, a medical student in Seoul, on charges of forcible molestation and violation of the Sexual Violence Punishment Act (filming using a camera, etc.).

It is known that around midnight on the 13th of last month, A made inappropriate physical contact with B, a fellow club member who had fallen asleep on a bus, and filmed B's body parts with his mobile phone. Feeling the signs of the crime, B woke up and, after confirming the illegally filmed photos on A's phone, reported it to 112 with the help of the bus driver and passengers. Upon learning of the crime, the bus driver turned the vehicle toward a nearby police box and arrested A on the spot.

A is reported to have admitted to the charges to the police. However, about 100 photos suspected to be of other women's body parts besides B's were also found on A's phone, and the police are conducting additional investigations. A police official stated, "We have currently sent the phone for forensic analysis for further investigation."

The police applied to the court for an arrest warrant for A. However, the court dismissed the request, citing no risk of flight. Currently, A is under investigation without detention.
