The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight on the 26th, there were 6,246 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 18,326,019. The number of new cases decreased by 544 compared to the previous day (6,790). The number of new cases has remained below 10,000 for 17 consecutive days since the 10th (9,310 cases).
Among the new confirmed cases, 135 were imported cases, marking the highest number since February 28th (160 cases). The remaining 6,111 cases were domestic community transmissions.
The increase in imported cases is attributed to the rise in arrivals following the implementation of quarantine exemptions for arrivals and the expansion of international flights on the 8th.
By region (including imported cases), the number of new confirmed cases is as follows: Gyeonggi 1,635, Seoul 1,310, Busan 388, Incheon 372, Gyeongnam 341, Gyeongbuk 316, Daegu 283, Ulsan 229, Chungnam 201, Jeonnam 193, Gangwon and Jeonbuk 179, Chungbuk 172, Daejeon 150, Gwangju 123, Jeju 100, Sejong 64, Quarantine 11.
