[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] A man in his 60s who stole six bottles of Vegemil from a convenience store was sentenced to imprisonment.
On the 25th, Judge Kim Dong-jin of the Seoul Southern District Court Criminal Division 4 announced that he sentenced Mr. A (61), who was tried on charges of theft and attempted theft, to six months in prison.
Mr. A was prosecuted on charges of stealing six bottles of Vegemil (worth about 8,000 won) in three separate incidents at a convenience store in Guro-gu, Seoul, last February.
On February 4th, Mr. A stole two bottles of Vegemil from a warmer installed outside the convenience store, and on the 9th of the same month, he stole two bottles each in the morning and afternoon and fled.
Previously, Mr. A had been sentenced to 10 months in prison for theft and other crimes and was released in January of this year.
The court stated the sentencing reasons, saying, "The defendant has multiple prior convictions of the same kind and committed the crime again during the recidivism period," and "considered that the amount of damage was not very large."
