[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The Korea Venture Business Association held an executive workshop on the 24th at the Restree Resort in Jecheon, Chungbuk, to discuss innovation in the venture industry and promote cooperation.
Expanding the executive workshop, which had not been held for the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the association created a platform for communication and collaboration with over 60 executives, honorary chairpersons, and about 20 representatives from the government and related organizations.
Starting with the opening remarks by Chairman Kang Sam-kwon, video congratulatory messages from Lee Young, Minister of SMEs and Startups, Song Gap-seok, member of the Democratic Party, and Eom Tae-young, member of the People Power Party, encouraged venture companies.
In particular, Minister Lee Young stated, "Although domestic and international uncertainties such as inflation, interest rate hikes, the Ukraine war, and price increases are holding us back, what is needed to overcome these challenges is the power of venture entrepreneurs. I ask you to become key players in the Korean economy by creating new value through creative innovation."
The association shared progress on key venture policy activities pursued in the first half of the year, including venture company intellectual property protection projects, venture support projects linked with large and medium-sized enterprises, and the Venture Startup Academy project.
They also discussed plans for the second half of the year, such as the 20th Venture Summer Forum, the publication of the Venture Statistics Hot Issue Magazine, and the Venture Nation pre-consulting project, aiming to provide practical services and projects for member companies and venture businesses.
In the first part, Park Yong-soon, Director of Startup Promotion Policy at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, explained government venture policy directions; Jung Yeon-woo, Director of Industrial Property Policy at the Korean Intellectual Property Office, presented intellectual property (IP) support systems for venture companies; and Kim Young-soo, Secretary-General of the Korea Youth Entrepreneurship Foundation, gave a special lecture on entrepreneurship.
In the second part, Jung Woon-soo, Management Advisor at the Korea Exchange, explained support systems for venture company listings, and Park Jin-hyuk, CEO of Illunex and a member of the association, discussed platform strategies to promote venture investment and technology convergence.
Park Jin-woo, CEO of Dadaix and the first investor from the personal investment association formed by the association, participated to share his investment attraction story, introduce his business, and seek cooperation partners.
