Over 70 Residents Including Dullegil Guardians and Environmental Groups Voluntarily Participate in Protecting Dullegil Trails
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Seongsu Park) promoted the ‘Songpa Dullegil Clean Day’ on the 14th, conducting invasive plant removal activities along the Tancheon section of Songpa Dullegil.
In the Tancheon section of Songpa Dullegil, harmful plants such as invasive kudzu vine (Hedera rhombea), thorny gourd (Momordica dioica), and ragweed are widely distributed. These plants are known for their vigorous reproduction and persistent survival, which not only hinder the growth of native plants and surrounding organisms but also cause respiratory diseases, posing serious risks.
Accordingly, the district explained that the ‘Songpa Dullegil Clean Day’ was held to reflect the voices of Dullegil neighborhood guardians who emphasized the need to protect the natural ecosystem of Songpa Dullegil, a treasure trove of diverse species, by having neighborhood guardians and environmental organizations jointly remove invasive plants.
This ‘Songpa Dullegil Clean Day’ saw voluntary participation from about 70 people, including Dullegil guardians, members of environmental organizations active in Songpa-gu, and volunteers, focusing on the Tancheon section of Songpa Dullegil, which is designated as an ecological landscape conservation area.
Under the guidance of forestry experts from environmental organizations, the Dullegil guardians received on-site education on identifying invasive plants and removal methods, and carried out manual removal activities such as cutting stems and uprooting plants, creating an environment where native plants can grow.
Additionally, on the 28th, the district plans to promote ‘Songpa Dullegil Clean Day 2’ targeting the Jangjicheon section of Songpa Dullegil, conducting invasive plant removal activities to contribute to the preservation of a healthy ecological environment along Songpa Dullegil.
Neighborhood guardians of Songpa Dullegil can participate if they reside or live in the respective neighborhood, and those interested can inquire about joining at their local community service center.
Seongsu Park, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “We will continue to nurture Songpa Dullegil together with residents, strengthen efforts to protect the ecosystem, so that it becomes a healthy habitat for flora and fauna and a natural resting spot for residents.”
