Hoban Construction is solidifying its position as a leader in open innovation.
Hoban Construction and Plan H Ventures (hereafter Plan H) announced that on the 7th of next month, they will hold the construction industry's first-ever "Hi Demoday 2022: Hoban Open Innovation Showcase & Demoday" (hereafter, Hi Demoday).
Hi Demoday is an event to introduce innovative technologies from startups invested in and nurtured by Hoban Construction, showcasing the results of open innovation. The event is expected to be attended by construction industry professionals, venture capitalists (VCs), as well as stakeholders from the industrial and investment sectors.
The companies participating in Hi Demoday include six startups: Ten Eleven (AI architectural design), Pluxity (digital twin), Aol Korea (ventilation systems), Raonak (digital door locks), Viewmagine (autonomous AI drone quality inspection), and Lowey Lab Korea (metaverse and VR content). These startups will present their core technologies and introduce the outcomes of open innovation initiatives and growth roadmaps pursued with Hoban Construction.
Hoban Construction has established an Open Innovation Team and is discovering and nurturing technology-based startups by hosting the "Hoban Innovation Technology Challenge" (HIT Challenge). They also provide commercialization funds and testbeds, applying technologies in actual field sites to create synergy.
A representative from Hoban Construction's Open Innovation Team stated, "Together with Plan H, we are holding the industry's first-ever demoday," adding, "There has been a lot of interest from corporate stakeholders and investors."
Hoban Construction, led by Kim Daeheon, President of Planning at Hoban Group, is striving for technological innovation through digital transformation and investment in promising startups. President Kim plans to secure future business competitiveness and enhance brand value through technological innovation at Hoban Construction, the group's core affiliate.
Meanwhile, the industry is paying attention to Hoban Construction's bold investments in startups with new technologies and its synergy strategy between construction and technology. Hoban Construction is collaborating with 39 companies, while Plan H has invested in 25 companies.
