Applications for the Math Cells Challenge Open from Monday, the 27th
Icecream Edu, which provides the smart learning service for elementary and middle school students called ‘Icecream Home Run,’ announced the launch of ‘Cells of Mathematics,’ an AI-customized learning content incorporating ‘Dynamic Knowledge Tracing (DKT)’ technology.
‘Knowledge Tracing’ technology tracks a student’s current knowledge level based on various learning data to identify which parts have influenced the learner’s current knowledge and what areas are lacking. It is a core engine for hyper-personalization that offers ‘customized learning’ tailored to each student’s individual knowledge level.
‘Cells of Mathematics,’ which integrates this technology, uses the learner’s past learning records to infer the probability of correct or incorrect answers for unsolved problems and recommends customized questions needed by the learner regardless of grade level. In particular, it comprehensively evaluates Home Run math learning and provides recommended questions in the form of team missions, progressing as a ‘Together Challenge’ to achieve a common goal.
The ‘Together Challenge’ can be applied for after checking problem-solving habits and weak concepts from the 27th of each month until the day before the first Monday of the following month. If there is no learning history, learners can apply after taking a math diagnostic test. The reason for assessing learning ability is that challenge teams are formed with 50 to 60 friends who share the same question types.
After forming teams, missions proceed in a game format from the first Monday to the 25th of the month, performing a ‘common goal.’ The mission is achieved by solving questions on weak concepts that need individual improvement, and when all individually achieved missions are combined to reach the target, the common goal is accomplished, successfully completing the month’s challenge.
When the team mission is successful (common goal achieved), all team members receive the challenge success reward, a limited edition ‘Homebata’ item, and the student with the highest mission completion rate is selected as MVP, receiving a crown item for their personal learning avatar ‘Homebata.’ This enhances the sense of achievement for reaching the goal and fosters teamwork and cooperation among members.
Lee Ji-geun, head of AI Research at Icecream Edu, explained, “‘Cells of Mathematics’ is not just about solving math problems but recommends optimized questions that address each student’s weaknesses, ensuring they study only what is necessary. Through AI analysis, students can verify their true abilities and solve customized problems to improve learning outcomes, achieving academic success in a short period.”
In December last year, Icecream Edu was selected as the first ‘DX Certified’ company among edutech firms. The DX certification program identifies and certifies digital innovation cases in domestic companies and public institutions. Icecream Edu was recognized for its innovation in providing hyper-personalized services based on DKT technology and was selected as a DX company.
Additionally, in February, a paper on DKT technology was accepted at the international conference ‘The Web Conference,’ marking a significant achievement.
Meanwhile, Icecream Edu provides top-level AI education services through ‘AI Life Record,’ which analyzes 16 million daily learning big data points to offer 1:1 personalized learning, and the AI tutor service ‘Aitturu.’
