Gangjin-gun Implements Safety and Health Education for Elderly Job Participants

[Gangjin=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] On the 20th, Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do, conducted safety accident prevention education and health education for participants in the social service-type senior job program at the Gangjin-gun Youth Culture House auditorium.

The education included cerebrovascular prevention education provided by the public health center and traffic safety education from Namdo Safety School. In addition, to ensure that job participation is not merely a source of income but leads to a healthy retirement life, education on health improvement and social relationship enhancement was also conducted.

The senior job project in Gangjin-gun involves 1,854 people in public interest activities, 90 in social service-type jobs, and 46 in market-type business groups, participating in 19 projects such as beautifying villages and assisting with meals at senior centers.

In particular, social service-type jobs differ from simple labor jobs by utilizing seniors' experience and activity capabilities, dispatching them to areas requiring help such as community care and safety, thereby contributing to local community welfare.

Kim Hak-dong, Director of the Resident Welfare Office, said, “We will support senior jobs to move beyond simple labor so that seniors can demonstrate their experience and capabilities, encouraging a healthy retirement life.”
