The Dong-A Socio Group is accelerating its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management through eco-friendly practices and transparent governance.
According to Dong-A Socio Group on the 24th, the holding company Dong-A Socio Holdings has decided to replace a total of 360 company vehicles with eco-friendly vehicles by 2024. Currently, about 70% of the sales vehicles used by employees of Dong-A ST and Dong-A Pharmaceutical are hybrid cars, and the remaining vehicles will also be replaced with hybrids. Through this, the group aims to reduce approximately 2,251 tons of carbon dioxide over four years. It is expected that switching to electric vehicles in the future will reduce even more carbon dioxide emissions.
Since the 8th, a campaign to reduce disposable products by using reusable cups has been underway. The in-house cafe "DA1201," located on the first floor of Dong-A Socio Holdings, provides reusable cups instead of disposable ones. These cups are collected daily by a professional company and go through a seven-step cleaning process before being reused. The cafe serves an average of 300 drinks per day to employees, and by using reusable cups instead of disposable ones, the annual carbon reduction is about 4.8 tons.
Products incorporating eco-friendly elements are also being continuously introduced. The "Children's Gagreen" uses in-mold labels that reduce adhesive chemicals on the product, making the labels easy to remove. The label design indicates where to peel, encouraging consumers to separate and recycle easily. The packaging design features nine endangered species such as the Asiatic black bear and the Blakiston's fish owl, raising awareness about environmental protection.
From a corporate governance perspective, the board of directors is composed so that outside directors constitute the majority. The chairperson of the board is separated from the CEO and is held by an outside director. The board committees?Audit Committee, Evaluation and Compensation Committee, and Internal Transactions Committee?are all composed entirely of outside directors, and the Outside Director Candidate Recommendation Committee consists of more than two-thirds outside directors, strengthening independence and transparency.
