[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] Lee Hyung-il, former Blue House Economic Policy Secretary, has been appointed as the new Vice Minister for Planning and Coordination at the Ministry of Economy and Finance. Ko Kwang-hyo has been appointed as the Director General of the Taxation Office, and Hong Doo-seon as the Director General of the Planning and Coordination Office.


The Ministry of Economy and Finance announced on the 23rd that it had made these director-level personnel appointments.


Vice Minister Lee Hyung-il previously served as Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance last year and has been appointed again as Vice Minister under the new government. Born in 1971, he graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Economics and entered public service through the 36th Administrative Examination. He has held positions such as Director of the Comprehensive Policy Division, Director of the Economic Analysis Division, Director of the Financial Market Division, and Director General of the Economic Policy Bureau.


Director General Ko Kwang-hyo is a seasoned tax official who has held key positions in the taxation field. Born in 1966, he graduated from Daedong High School in Gwangju and Seoul National University with a degree in Economics. A 36th Administrative Examination pass, he has served as an administrative officer in the Economic and Financial Secretary’s Office at the Presidential Office, standing judge at the Tax Tribunal of the Office for Government Policy Coordination, fiscal reform support officer at the Special Committee on Fiscal Reform of the Policy Planning Committee, and held roles such as Director of Income and Corporate Tax Policy and Director General of Taxation Policy at the Ministry of Economy and Finance.


Director General Hong Doo-seon was born in 1970 and graduated from Korea University with a degree in Economics. He entered public service through the 36th Administrative Examination. He has served as Director of the New Growth Policy Division, Director of the Evaluation and Analysis Division, Policy Planning Officer, Director General of the Long-term Strategy Bureau, and Director General of the Public Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
