Residents near Yoon's private residence say "Normal life is difficult"... Police restrict nighttime speaker use after one day

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] The police have notified Seoul's Voice, which has been protesting for over a week in front of President Yoon Seok-yeol's Acrovista residence in Seocho-dong, to restrict the use of speakers at night. This comes just one day after residents submitted a petition to the police requesting restraint in gatherings due to noise complaints.

On the 23rd, the Seocho Police Station in Seoul informed Seoul's Voice that the use of speakers after 6 p.m. is prohibited during protests and demonstrations. A police official stated, "We conveyed that only small amplifiers such as portable megaphones are allowed after 6 p.m."

In response, Seoul's Voice stated that they will continue their protests using portable megaphones instead of speakers.

Earlier, residents filed a petition with the police requesting a ban on the use of loudspeakers by the protest group in front of the building. A total of 470 out of 757 households participated in the petition.

They explained the reason for the petition, saying, "Since the 14th, a group called Seoul's Voice has been holding noisy protests from morning to evening in front of the Rehabilitation Court across from the apartment," and added, "Due to the noise damage, it is difficult to live normally, and basic living safety is being threatened." They also earnestly requested, "We sincerely ask for enforcement to protect residents from damages caused by indiscriminate gatherings and protests."

Meanwhile, Seoul's Voice has continued protests in front of President Yoon's residence since the 14th.
