'5th Electronic Government Day' Commemoration Event at Government Sejong Convention Center
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 23rd that it held the '5th Electronic Government Day Ceremony' under the theme 'Connecting the People with the Digital Platform Government (IT)' at the Government Sejong Convention Center.
This ceremony was organized to declare and share the new government's vision of the 'Digital Platform Government' on the occasion of the 5th Electronic Government Day. The event was divided into two parts: Part 1 featured the electronic government commemorative ceremony and proclamation, and Part 2 held a panel discussion with digital government experts from industry, academia, and research.
In Part 1, about 200 attendees including public officials, companies, and citizens who have contributed to building the electronic government gathered for the proclamation ceremony of the vision for a 'world-class digital platform government where all data is connected.' Additionally, an awards ceremony was held for those who contributed to the development of electronic government and for the Digital Government Service Idea Contest.
Minister Lee Sang-min expressed in his commemorative speech the determination to take a further leap forward to a 'Digital Platform Government' based on new technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data, and public-private cooperation, following electronic and digital government.
Go Jin, head of the Digital Platform Government Committee Preparatory Group, presented the following tasks to realize the Digital Platform Government: ▲ promotion of citizen-experience leading projects ▲ proactive public services ▲ scientific national administration based on AI and data ▲ creation of an innovative ecosystem for a world-leading digital platform government ▲ ensuring a safe and trustworthy user environment.
Furthermore, at the event, to commend contributions to the development of electronic government, the Order of Service Merit, Red Stripes was awarded to Jeong Seon-yong, Director of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and the Order of Service Merit was presented to Professor Lim Gyu-geon of Hanyang University.
Part 2 featured a panel discussion where digital experts from industry, academia, and research gathered to present and discuss 'Public-Private Cooperation Measures for the Success of the Digital Platform Government.' This year’s 5th Electronic Government Day ceremony was broadcast live via the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s YouTube channel, Kakao, Naver, and others.
Minister Lee Sang-min stated, “Once the Digital Platform Government is completed, a personalized government will be born where a national secretary automatically recommends services tailored to each individual.” To achieve this, he emphasized, “We must create an environment where anyone can easily utilize government data and where the private sector can freely participate in the process of providing services to the public.”
