Gwangju City Council Member Flees Abroad Amid Investigation for Alleged Bribery Charges

On the 22nd, the Gwangju Western Police Station announced that they are pursuing Mr. A, an 8th-term Gwangju city council member, who is suspected of violating the Attorney-at-Law Act.


Mr. A is accused of receiving tens of millions of won in bribes from an acquaintance, Mr. B, in exchange for illicit favors.


After Mr. B admitted his involvement during a police summons investigation, Mr. A departed for the Philippines on the 3rd of this month, the day after the admission.


He is currently unreachable.


A police official stated, "We are searching for Mr. A through various channels," adding, "Details cannot be disclosed as the investigation is ongoing."
