[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Forest House (Room 601) in the National Daeyasan Natural Recreation Forest recorded the highest competition rate of 296 to 1 in the summer peak season application for national natural recreation forests this year.
This competition rate is a 126% increase compared to last year's highest rate of 131 to 1 (Byeonsan Natural Recreation Forest), reflecting the growing popularity of natural recreation forests following the lifting of social distancing measures.
The National Natural Recreation Forest Management Office announced the results of the summer peak season lottery for national natural recreation forest usage on the 22nd.
Earlier, the Recreation Forest Management Office accepted lottery reservation applications through the ‘Sumnadeul-e’ website from the 9th to the 16th of this month.
As a result, a total of 118,698 people applied to use the natural recreation forests, an increase of 22,174 people (23%) compared to the previous year. The average competition rate was 4.91 to 1. By facility type, rooms had an average competition rate of 6.46 to 1, while camping facilities had a rate of 1.85 to 1.
The most popular accommodation facility is the Forest House (Room 601) in Daeyasan Natural Recreation Forest, located in the center of the 8 scenic spots of Mungyeong City, boasting pristine natural scenery.
This newly built room set against the forest background is one of the largest Forest Houses (14-person room, 80㎡) and offers excellent amenities.
In particular, the Yongchu Valley between Daeyasan and Dundeoksan Mountains is praised for its beautiful and clean water, making it perfect for enjoying the scenery.
Among camping facilities, Hwacheon Forest Camping Site, the first forest camping site designated by the Korea Forest Service, recorded the highest competition rate of 32 to 1 for its ‘Auto Camping Site No. 27’.
‘Auto Camping Site No. 27’ maintains distance from other auto camping sites and walking trails, and is surrounded by trees, making it suitable for vacationers seeking a private space.
Above all, Hwacheon Forest Camping Site preserves the original forest environment as much as possible, providing excellent conditions for camping in the forest, and is located near a valley that runs through it, earning it the nickname ‘prime camping site’ among users.
In addition to these natural recreation forests, Muui-do Natural Recreation Forest in Incheon is highly rated as the best natural recreation forest with an average competition rate of 35.72 to 1, thanks to its excellent geographic accessibility, outstanding natural and marine scenery, and surrounding tourist attractions.
Meanwhile, the results of the summer peak season natural recreation forest lottery can be individually checked on the Sumnadeul-e website.
Winners must complete payment by 6 p.m. on the 27th of this month; failure to pay will result in automatic cancellation of the winning reservation.
Facilities that are unpaid or canceled can be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis on the Sumnadeul-e website starting at 9 a.m. on the 29th of this month.
