Please Take Care of the Next Day
A drink that you reach for more on days you drink alcohol than on days you don't: blended pear juice. It is already well-known that blended pear juice is an amazing hangover cure. In 2015, the Australian edition of the magazine ‘GQ’ commissioned the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation in Australia to conduct an experiment proving the hangover relief effects of blended pear juice. The results showed that the components in pear juice can help alleviate headaches after drinking. People who are even more passionate about blended pear juice than Koreans...☆
Thanks to its steady popularity, a hangover cure version of blended pear juice called ‘IdH’ was released. The product name ‘IdH’ was inspired by a story where a foreigner who didn’t know Korean read the word ‘배’ (bae, meaning pear) on the can as ‘IdH.’
The volume of one can of IdH is about half that of blended pear juice, at 175 ml. The amount is just right and light, making it easy to drink in one gulp and convenient to carry in a bag before going out drinking. Although not as big as Hwan, it is a good size to share one by one. Both products contain pear pur?e, but IdH also includes extract powder from Hovenia dulcis (oriental raisin tree), which protects the liver and is effective for hangover relief.
We poured it into a clear glass. The hangover cure IdH has a brownish color. It’s the same color as drinks like ‘Condition’ or ‘Kkaesukkang.’ The color is distinctly different, but surprisingly, the scent is similar. Both have a sweet pear drink aroma bubbling up.
The taste was similar yet different. IdH tastes like blended pear juice mixed with a little balloon flower root syrup. It also has a flavor reminiscent of pear dessert simmered with balloon flower root and honey. One thing is certain: it’s not bitter or heavy. The sweet and refreshing pear flavor makes it suitable even for hangover cure beginners.
If you’ve ever drunk blended pear juice the day after drinking alcohol, you know the feeling. It’s not dramatic, but you slowly feel your mind clearing up. This drink gives that same sensation. Honestly, I didn’t feel much difference from blended pear juice. One editor, who got drunk during a beer tasting due to accumulated fatigue and stress, tried this hangover cure and left a one-line review with empty eyes: ‘Since it tastes like pear, it’s less off-putting. I feel my mind clearing up a bit.’
IdH, which awakens a body tired from a hangover with its sweet taste. It captures the flavor of pear juice well and is recommended for those who have difficulty drinking medicinal hangover cures. Its sweet taste is something anyone can enjoy, so it’s good to share one at drinking gatherings. It’s also recommended for those who want to relieve a hangover but find it burdensome to finish a 350 ml can of blended pear juice.
